Plans have been revealed to rename the Treasure House to the Beverley Hub and become home to multiple council services.
Under the plans, there will be a new customer service centre and an enhanced library. While the council’s registration services will also relocate from Walkergate House.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council says plans for landscaping Champney Gardens will also be on display.
There will be an opportunity for members of the public to weigh in on plans for the Treasure House to become a Beverley Hub, which will bring existing council services together under one roof.
In a statement released, Cllr Mike Medini, portfolio holder for culture, leisure, libraries and customer services, at East Riding of Yorkshire Council said;
“The project is to create a Beverley Hub that combines existing services that are currently delivered from a variety of buildings across Beverley, into one shared space and that the Treasure House becomes the vibrant heart of Beverley’s cultural and civic quarter.”
Beverley Tourist Information Centre was closed and relocated to the Treasure House, a move at the time viewed as controversial.
This latest move by the council raises a number of questions about the future of Walkergate House including the possibility of it being sold off.
There is a drop-in event, from 10am to 6pm on Tuesday, 23 August, where people living in Beverley and the surrounding area will be able to give their feedback on the £3m project.
