Britain’s Best Pub Sheds Competition Now Open For Entries

In celebration of Britain’s best pub sheds, Pub Shed Radio and Two Fat Blokes are hosting a national competition.

As a result of the pandemic, back garden pubs and bars became hugely popular. It is estimated that there are now over 2 million back garden pubs and bars in operation across the country.

In many of these bars, you will find fully functional bars with sound systems, darts boards, pool tables, and countless drinks.

Beverley resident Paul Kettlewell is one of the millions who built his own garden pub during the lockdown. Speaking to HU17.net he said;

“When we were all locked down I needed a project to keep busy. I decided to build a pub shed as during that period you could not go out. Also when the pubs did reopen it was all outside drinking.”

“However as we were allowed to mix in our social bubbles having a bar meant we could get together and have fun.”

Paul’s bar has a host of features. Outside it has a washroom and hot tub while the bar has all the mod cons including a TV and a dart board.

Pub Shed Radio & Two Fat Blokes host a contest to bring together the best of the best back garden pubs with various prizes for first, second and third place winners.

The judges selected the top three from hundreds of entries last year, and then the public voted on those three via an online voting platform.

Voting for the best bar will take place online, with visitors from across the UK able to vote for their favourite from each.

Entry To National Pub Sheds Competition Is Free

Iain Weetman the winner from 2021 said:

“He could not believe he had won, I’m so happy to have won with my small bar” “I’ve never won anything before, this is amazing.”

Iain self-built and fitted out his bar. The bar features Bar Taps from HMS Ark Royal that served in the Gulf war proudly installed on his bar.

A bottle of 7-year-old Rum and a sign package worth over £200 were awarded to Iain as the winner of the Pub Shed of the year 2021.

Other finalists The Garden Inn Rowley Regis & O’Sulivans Bishops Auckland received sign packages and high distinctions.

No one will know who will be the winner until the show airs live. A DJ rig will be set up by Ashley Turner of Two Fat Blokes and DJ Tommy Funka of Pub Shed Radio. They will then broadcast live from the winning pub shed on 19 November.

Owners of garden bars can enter their pub sheds & bars between 1st September & 30th September at pubshedoftheyear.co.uk.
