Two brand new buses are being rolled out for passengers on the Goole town bus service.
The buses both have eye-catching ‘Goole Locals’ branding on the side which will make them visible as they drive around the five town service routes.
The service, which is funded by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is well used and popular, recording more than 77,000 passenger journeys in 2021-2022, when most services across the country were still being affected by the Covid pandemic.
They were delivered by bus firm East Yorkshire, which operates the Goole town service.
Councillor Claire Holmes, the council’s portfolio holder for planning, infrastructure and housing, said: “We welcome this major investment in one of our key supported bus services by the operator East Yorkshire buses.
“I hope these new buses will make the town service even more popular with Goole residents.”
Stuart Fillingham, head of commercial at East Yorkshire said: “We’re delighted to announce a new look for our Goole Locals services.
“We’re committed to operating our buses in a way that helps put our services at the heart of the communities they serve, so it was important to us that our new buses have everything our passengers want.
“With the new technology on board, people can make the most of the time they spend on the bus, whether that’s answering emails whilst their phone charges, simply sitting back in comfort and enjoying the view.
“The new fleet of Euro VI engines are also more environmentally friendly than before, which is a great step in making the local community, and indeed our network, more sustainable.”
