Beverley Crash To Third Successive Defeat Against Hullensians

Beverley suffered a defeat in the local derby as they were beaten 50-36 by Hullensians. The Beavers had hoped for better ahead of the game but crashed to their third consecutive defeat.

It was not all doom and gloom for head coach Craig Hancock and his side. When they did get the ball they showed they can. However, it was Hullensians who opened the scoring early on.

Hancock’s side however turned on the style. In a fifteen-minute period, Beverley scored three tries. Lewis Szrama, Luke Hazell and Jake Boardman all getting on the score sheet. Each of these tries was converted by the skipper Rob Smith.

Poor defending allowed the home team to get back in the game.  Worse was to come for Beverley as the home side clawed back another trie.

In the second half, Szrama was held up illegally gifting Beverley a try which the ever-reliable Smith converted.

Despite this, Beverley was again failing in their defence. This allowed Hullensians to get score three times and take back control of the game.

Smith scored a penalty but it was to be in vain. Yet again the home team hit back scoring two tries without reply.

Beverley Played Better Than In Previous Weeks

While the game was all but done the Beavers mustered up a quite brilliant last move of the game. Boardman kicked and chased his own ball, gathered and ran another 20m and offloaded to Louis Butler to score in the corner.

Without question, Beverley played better than they have in the previous two games in patches. There were also notable performances by Aiden Calvert, Dan Lee and Smith. While there was a man-of-the-match performance from Jack Dixon, new to the team and giving his heart and soul.

The coaching team were clearly disappointed with the result and the performance. However, Beverley needs to regroup, dust themselves down and face Keighley who will visit Beaver Park next weekend.
