As part of her career advancement, 23-year-old Naomi Peach from Beverley, East Yorkshire has taken a position at award-winning Kiplin Hall and Gardens.

A rural estate with an accredited museum, tea room, and extensive gardens is located halfway between Richmond and Northallerton.

Naomi will work on a new project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund called Interpreting Kiplin for 400.

This project aims to create an engaging and relevant interpretation of the museum and grounds by engaging local community groups and previously underrepresented audiences.

Previously, Naomi had worked at Cragside, a property owned by the National Trust. Her academic background includes a BA in History and an MA in Museum Studies from Leicester University.

Naomi is eager to get started in her new role, having relocated to the area.

She said:

“Having visited Kiplin during the lockdowns with my mum and sister we daydreamed about what a lovely place it would be to work. I could really picture myself here, and now my daydream has come true. Not only is the venue amazing but the project itself is really interesting. Creating long-term interpretation, not just a temporary exhibition, working with communities is a relatively rare brief, so it presents an interesting challenge.”

Director of Kiplin Hall, James Etherington said:

“We are thrilled to welcome Naomi to the Kiplin family. We are sure her skills will be a great asset to the role and Naomi will be a good fit with our large team of volunteers and the wider community. We are especially thankful to National Lottery players without whom this project could not take place.”

In addition to being raised in Beverley, Naomi also shares a passion for history with her mother, who recently completed her MA in Museum Studies. Naomi will work under Alice Rose, Kiplin’s Curator. Botanical names may have fortuitously indicated a recipe for success.

After all, Kiplin is known for its award-winning tea room, which serves dishes using seasonal produce grown in its walled garden.

Visitors can visit Kiplin Hall and Gardens 6 days a week until Wednesday 2nd November when it will close while it is dressed for Christmas.

The Time Traveller’s Christmas exhibition will be open from Friday 2nd to Sunday 18th December (closed on Thursdays). For more information, please visit www.kiplinhall.co.uk.
