A low-impact, fun and friendly activity are being offered in East Yorkshire at the Beverley Leisure Centre.
The Council’s health and wellbeing team in partnership with East Riding Leisure Beverley will deliver the new sessions.
Session times are 1pm-2pm on Thursdays. A wide range of activities will be offered, such as Boccia (a form of bowls), New Age Kurling, seated aerobics, ping pong, seated volleyball, short tennis, badminton and more.
As a portfolio holder for culture, leisure, libraries, and customer services, Mike Medini said:
“There is strong scientific evidence that being physically active can help you lead a healthier and happier life. People who are regularly active have a lower risk of developing many long-term conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and some cancers.
“Research shows that physical activity can also help to boost self-esteem, improve your mood, sleep quality and energy levels, as well as reduce your risk of stress, depression, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
“I hope that lots of people will want to come along to ‘Let’s Get Moving’ and enjoy all the benefits of gentle exercise.”
Sessions at East Riding Leisure Beverley will cost £2.80 per session or will be free for those with memberships or health schemes. Bring a drink and wear appropriate clothing and footwear – no reservations are required.
A range of activities are offered in a fun environment, and the sessions are aimed at all abilities.
