Defence School of Transport Hosts Beverly Armed Forces Day

It’s set to be the best Armed Forces Day yet as Beverley Armed Forces Day is set to be the biggest celebration in the region.

Each year, around 5,000 members of the public attend the event to show their support, gratitude, and appreciation for the armed forces.

This event will take place on Saturday 1 July from 10am to 4pm and will include Army Parachute displays, Military hardware and equipment, Classic Cars, Fun Fair rides, and entertainment for the entire family.  As part of our effort to support our Armed Forces and Veterans, Hull FC players will also be in attendance.

There will be a variety of catering outlets available to satisfy your hunger pangs and quench your thirst!

Military Charities and East Riding of Yorkshire Council will be on hand to explain how they support veterans, serving military personnel, and their families.

Commandant of the Defence School of Transport, Colonel Chris Henson QGM said: “The Defence School of Transport is delighted to host the Armed Forces Day.

The theme for this year’s event is Celebrating Service, which includes professional services and volunteer services as well as showcasing partner organisations in the charity, conservation, and education fields, so this is a great opportunity for people from across the East Riding and Humberside area to come and see what the Armed Forces and Public Services do in the region.”

He added: “We have an amazing line up of entertainment, but the highlight for me will be at 3pm, when we invite ex-service personnel to join the Veterans parade.”

David Elvidge, Vice Chair SSAFA East Yorkshire said:

“SSAFA East Yorkshire are extremely grateful to the Defence School of Transport for agreeing to host and support the event.”

“I would also like to thank all those volunteers and organisations who make events like this a success. This will be a great day and I hope to see you all there.”

Parking is available on the site at Normandy Barracks and will be charged at £5 per car. For those that need it, local company Acklam’s have been hired to run free coaches between Beverley’s Sow Hill and Leconfield throughout the event.
