Introducing New Evening And Weekend Bus Services In East Riding

This weekend, new evening and weekend bus services are starting on existing routes in the East Riding to make buses more frequent.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council will fund five new evening and weekend services in Goole and Pocklington starting on Sunday 5 November.

During the next two years, the council will receive £2.28 million from the government to upgrade the East Riding’s public transport network.

East Yorkshire Buses will operate four of these new extended services. They are:

747 Pocklington to York service via Full Sutton – on Friday and Saturday evenings, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
55 Gilberdyke to Hull service via North Cave and South Cave, and the 55 Gilberdyke service to Goole via Howden – on Friday/Saturday evenings, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
361 Goole to Scunthorpe service – on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
196 Allerthorpe, Melbourne, Aughton to York service – on Saturdays.
G1 Goole Town Bus Service to Old Goole – on Friday and Saturday evenings, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

In the new year, the council will announce further improvements to bus routes.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport said: “These extra journeys on these bus timetables are fantastic news for passengers in our area.
“This marks the start of a new phase of investment in public transport in our area to make buses more frequent and more convenient for people wanting to travel and I hope they will be well used.”

A number of improvements were approved by the East Riding of Yorkshire Enhanced Bus Partnership Board. Among the participants in the partnership are the council, local bus operators, as well as other stakeholders.

As part of £150m in funding to councils in the North and Midlands, East Riding of Yorkshire Council received £1.946m from the Department for Transport for buses last week.

Furthermore, the Get Around For £2 discount scheme has been extended until December 2024 and will remain at £2.

The new fare means that people will be able to travel anywhere in the East Riding – and beyond – for just £2.
