A group of listening volunteers from Hull Samaritans sang carols on Toll Gavel on Sunday 3rd December and raised an incredible £455.02 for the branch.
“We cannot thank people enough for their generosity”, said Director Tony Rheinberg, “Hull Samaritans is run totally by volunteers and we have to raise all our income ourselves. The money that has been donated will all be used to keep the branch running, so we are there for anyone who is struggling and want to call us”
Around 10,000 calls are answered by Samaritans every day. As part of its mission, the charity wants to reduce the number of suicides and help people who are struggling.
To provide a safe space in the coming decades for all who need it, the charity says it must adapt and innovate.
It is also important for them to broaden their impact in society in order to reduce suicide rates, by working with others to save lives.
