East Riding Libraries To Launch New Children’s Festival

East Riding Libraries is delighted to announce the launch of its brand new festival for children and young people, Live ‘n Loud in Libraries.

With a varied and exciting programme – featuring live music, forensics, activities, author visits and much more – the festival runs from Monday 22 July until Saturday 31 August.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 4 June at 8am.

With 66 live events running across the summer for all ages to enjoy, there is something for all the family to get involved in, with all tickets being kept as low-a-cost as possible. One adult also goes free with each ticket purchased.

New events for this year include Live ‘n Loud at Flemingate, a free music festival for young people aged 11 – 17, held at Flemingate in Beverley on Friday 16 August. Held from 2-5pm, come along and listen to live music, festival up your looks with hair and glitter, and even more.

Also for young people will be the Think Forensic – CSI: Library workshops. Immerse yourself in some realistic crime scene investigation and get to grips with forensic elements of the crime as you work through the evidence to uncover the culprit. Using forensic techniques, you will develop, lift, roll and identify fingerprints, cast and lift footwear marks, identify and match hair and fibre samples and much more! Tickets are £3 per child.

For younger children, Boomchikkaboom will be visiting East Riding Libraries branches for the first time and bringing their Fun Family Rave to a selection of our library branches. The party vibes are set so join in with singing, dancing, bubbles, parachute fun and more! Tickets are £3 per child.

A selection of children’s authors will also be visiting the East Riding, including Sam Sedgeman, LD Lapinski, Andy Sanders, and James Nicol. They will all be here to talk about their newest book releases and sign copies of their books in the library. All author-visit events are £3 per child.

Kimberley Harston, librarian and organiser of Live ‘n Loud in Libraries, said: “We’re so excited to bring so many affordable events to the residents of the East Riding.

“Live ‘n Loud is all about making noise in our libraries and enjoying everything they have to offer.

“We’re proud of the community space we’ve created within our branches and these events help us to bring even more people into our libraries.”

Tickets for these events and more will go on sale on Tuesday, 4 June 2024 at 8am. Unless otherwise specified, booking is essential to secure your place on most events.
