Tesco Community Grants have funded thousands of local community projects across the UK, helping schools, junior sports teams, foodbanks, charities and community groups. Since 2016 over a hundred local projects voted on in Tesco’s Beverley store have received almost £200,000 in grants.

In July 2023 Tesco launched the Stronger Starts programme which commits £5million every year to schools and children’s groups across the UK to fund healthy activities and food.

In our local area the following groups will each benefit from the latest round of grants:

  • Molescroft Primary School received £1500 for a new greenhouse for their wildlife garden
  • Beverley Men in Sheds received £1,000 for their temperature controlled ceiling
  • Beverley Grammar School received £500 for their potager garden project

Richard Ellett, Chairman of Beverley Men in Sheds, said: ”A big thank you from Beverley Men in Sheds to Tesco for giving us the chance to participate in the blue token fund raising event and a huge thank you to all of their customers who voted for us. The money will go to a variety of projects including a new ceiling for our shed.”

David Ryley, Tesco Beverley Community Champion, added: ”It was great to meet the Men in Sheds team to find out just how the Tesco grant will help them further develop this fantastic community initiative. We look forward to meeting our other two winners when the schools return in September”.
