Pocklington Children’s Centre sessions will be relocating from 1 June, as the existing building will be demolished as part of Woldgate School and Sixth Form College new build school.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is engaging with families who attend the sessions about how these run in the future.
Families can still access the range of provision provided by the Children’s Centre, with a short-term plan being put in place from 1 June. Alternative sites will provide the range of family support drop ins, parenting support and play sessions, attended by young families with children under the age of five.
Merlin Joseph, executive director of children, families and schools said: “The early years of a child’s life lay the foundations for lifelong health and wellbeing, and so providing support and services to families at this crucial time is very important.
“Our Children’s Centres are friendly, welcoming community spaces that offer a range of activities and services for children and their families, to help give every child the best start in life. They offer support without judgement so that families feel confident, safe, healthy and happy.
“I’d like to reassure residents that the variety of support available will continue, and we want to ensure future provision provides what our local families need. It’s a chance to hear from families and develop the offer we already have.”
