X Factor and I’m a Celebrity star, Jake Quickenden, is set to wow the crowds at Beverley’s first Teenage Market at Flemingate next month.
Jake, who was runner up in ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here 2014, will take to the stage at the Teenage Market on Sunday, June 5, to perform tracks from his new EP ahead of his forthcoming tour.
Hosted at Beverley’s Flemingate development, the Teenage Market is an exciting free event aimed at giving young creative traders and talented performers the opportunity to try out new business ideas, showcase their entrepreneurial skills, and sell their products in a real marketplace environment.
Part of the Humber Business Week 2016, the Teenage Market is organised by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in partnership with East Riding College and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
Flemingate Centre Manager, Graham Tait, said: “We are pleased to be working with the organisers to bring the Teenage Market to Flemingate and absolutely thrilled that Jake Quickenden accepted our invitation to perform on the day.
“Jake’s got a huge fan base so he’ll definitely attract lots of visitors to the area, which is great for the Teenage Market and Beverley as a whole.
“I’m sure it will be really a popular event, especially as the new campus for East Riding College forms part of the Flemingate development.
“There’ll be live music, performers and food stalls as well as creative retail on offer at the market, so it will be a great day out for all the family.”
Jake, who originally hails from Scunthorpe, was encouraged to audition for TV’s X Factor in 2012 by his family. He won a place in Nicole Scherzinger’s team and made it through to the judges’ houses before being voted off.
A second opportunity for X Factor followed in 2014, when he was mentored by Mel B and won a coveted spot through to the Live Shows stage.
A surprising early exit from X Factor led to the opportunity to join the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here show in Australia, culminating in Jake being runner-up to winner Carl Fogarty.
Now carving out a successful career as a musician and TV presenter, Jake’s new EP is available on iTunes now, and his forthcoming UK tour, The New Chapter, begins in September.
Jake said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing and meeting as many people there as possible. It looks to be a great day and it’s always great performing, especially my new songs.”
The Teenage Market will be held at Flemingate on Sunday, June 5, from 10am to 4pm. Jake will take to the stage at approximately 2pm.
Aspiring young traders or performers aged 12-29 years can apply online to take part in the Teenage Market (young people under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian). The closing date is Sunday, May 29, 2016.
The 16-acre Flemingate development – Beverley’s largest-ever regeneration project – is a £120m scheme by Hull-based Wykeland Group. In addition to the shopping centre, it is also home to the East Riding College campus, an 80-bed Premier Inn hotel and six-screen, 1,000-seat digital cinema, Parkway, as well as 130 high-quality homes.
