NHS

During June and July NHS England will be inviting young people and their families from Hull, the East Riding of Yorkshire, North and North East Lincolnshire who have experience of mental health services the opportunity to inform a new mental health service proposed for the area.

Lesley Patel, Director of Nursing for Specialised Commissioning, NHS England North said)

“It is so important for commissioners to understand the experience that children, young people and families have. It ensures that change is centred around making tangible differences to the experience of children and young people in relation to their mental health and emotional wellbeing and it provides a baseline for designing the best quality service. “

The new service will consist of general adolescent beds with co-located psychiatric intensive care beds to serve this locality. A detailed piece of work has been carried out to assess the number of general adolescent and psychiatric intensive care beds required across each geographical location of Yorkshire and Humber.

The Humber area will be the first of the three geographical areas to begin this process. The process and timescales for the areas of West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and York and South Yorkshire will be announced shortly.

During June and July local and interested parties will have the opportunity to inform the future service and.NHS England will in due course notify the market of our intentions for a planned procurement through the issue of a Prior Information Notice via the Official Journal of the European Union. This will be followed by invitations to tender later in the summer with the aim of awarding a contract to the preferred provider(s) in November.
