The Samaritans will be in Beverley this Sunday as they look to bring some festive cheer to town while raising money to help fund their work.
While Christmas for many is a happy time, the charity say that for some it can prove to be very lonely period for many people.
Speaking ahead of their visit, Leigh Glossop from the Samaritans said;
“The Samaritans offer 24 hour support for everyone, regardless of background, the chance to work through their problems. We never judge and are always on hand whenever people are feeling that life is a struggle.”
“While Christmas is a really happy time for many people, for others it can make feelings of loneliness or unhappiness even more difficult to cope with. “
“Hull Samaritans is one of 203 branches ensuring that those who are struggling to cope are able to pick up the phone or send an email and have someone who truly cares at the other end.”
“So while our carol singers will be spreading some cheer in Beverley on Sunday, we will also be there for those not having the best of times too.”
“As with all charities, Samaritans keep going thanks to kind donations from people.”
“The Hull branch has a number of fundraising activities each year and last year we also sang in the centre of Beverley, where we received a warm welcome from shoppers and those out for a stroll.”
“Hopefully we’ll get the same welcome again and can raise some more much-needed funds to keep our branch going.”
The Samaritans #say they will always welcome volunteers who they will train to train to listen so they can be there to give people support when they need it most.
