Walkington AFC manager Richard Twigger says his side are buzzing and looking forward to taking on Hornsea Town in the Humber Premier League.

Twigger bagged his first win since taking over at the helm of the club last week as his side beat North Ferriby Athletic 1-0  thanks to a single goal from Jason Crisp.

Speaking to HU17.net ahead of Saturday’s match Twigger said;

“It was great to get back to winning ways last week and everyone can’t wait for next game this weekend away at Hornsea.”

“Confidence is a big thing and we are all buzzing after last weeks performance.  It’s our first time playing at this level and we are still learning.”

“There are no easy games in this league and had to stress to the lads they need to put more in the higher we go.”

Twigger says he has no worries when it comes to his side scoring goals and has focused training on tightening his side up at the back.

He said;

“We have worked really hard in training and had some fun as well and team spirit is great.”

“As a team we have worked hard on defensive side of our game as we will always score goals. So hopefully all this work will pay off and we are looking for another positive result against Hornsea.”

Walkington currently sit in sixth place in the Humber Premier League while Hornsea are fighting at the foot of the table.

Hornsea come into the game having not won a game since September, they have the worst defensive record in the league conceding 50 goals in just sixteen matches.

A win for Walkington, and if results go their way could see them move above local rivals Beverley Town Football Club who are currently sat in fourth place in the Humber Premier League.
