The Molescroft Parish Council Jubilee Award for 2010 was presented to Harry Oglesby and Bridget Reason at the Annual Parish Meeting in Molescroft Pavilion.

The award is presented annually to recognise those who have made a major contribution to the community of Molescroft.

Harry and Bridget have both been involved in the scouting movement for many years and run the 1st Beverley Scout Troop which has included a lot of boys from Molescroft over the years.  It was particularly appropriate for them to receive the award as their troop celebrates its centenary this year.

Harry has been involved in scouting since he became a Cub at the age of 8.  He ran Scout troops whilst doing his National Service and then ran Molescroft troop for a number of years before moving to the 1st Beverley troop in 1967.  He has now been with the 1st Beverley troop for 33 years.

Bridget Reason has also been involved with 1st Beverley Scouts for over 30 years.  She started off as a member of the parents’ committee and went on to become Group Scout Leader with responsibility for Cubs and Scouts.

During their time as leaders, Harry and Bridget have organised numerous camping expeditions including international camps in Luxembourg and Gilwell, near London.

Harry has led Scouts on challenge events such as the Lyke Wake Walk, the Three Peaks and the White Rose.

They have both been involved in fundraising activities for the Scouts and one of the highlights was raising enough money to send a Scout to the World Jamboree in Australia.

Molescroft Parish Council Chairman, Mike Hildyard, presented the award and paid tribute to the dedication shown by Harry and Bridget over so many years.
