Community Hub Proposals To Be Shared With Towns Residents

Beverley Town Council’s ambitious proposals to transform the old St Nicholas’s school into a modern community hub for Beverley will be shared with the public.

The Town Council are to hold a special consultation event at Armstrong’s Social Club next Wednesday 4 December between 3pm and 7pm.

The Town Council’s consultation questionnaire has now closed, with almost 300 responses received from members of the public and potential user groups.

If Beverley Town Council succeeds in purchasing the school for the people of Beverley from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, it will see the 110-year-old building revived as a dynamic hub.

They say the hub would serve all kinds of local community groups, as well as providing a new home for Beverley Town Council.

Explaining next Wednesday’s event, a spokesperson for Beverley Town Council said;

“It’s important to remember that no decision has yet been taken to buy the old St Nicholas’s school.

“The event next Wednesday is part of an open public consultation exercise. We will be sharing a couple of different options for how the building might be used, and asking people for their opinions.”

“So far we have received nearly 300 responses to our consultation. On Wednesday we will be able to showcase different ideas and visualise how it all might look.”

“We will only go ahead and commit Beverley taxpayers’ money to this project if the community supports the idea, and is in broad agreement with the Town Council’s plans.”

“That’s why I hope that as many people as possible will be able to find time to drop in and join us to discuss the plans with councillors, over a cup of tea or coffee.”

The Beverley Community Hub open event will be at Armstrong’s Social Club on Wednesday 4th December from 3pm until 7pm. Come along and have your say.
