St Mary’s Primary School have thanked the local Tesco store and their customers. Their comments come after they were awarded cash by the supermarket.
The school in Beverley was awarded the money as part of the Bags of Help incentive. Following a vote by shoppers at the Morton Lane store, the school were named winners in the 2019 March / April draw.
As a result of the cash, the school was able to complete a project that aims to help pupils at the school.
Staff from the local Tesco visited the school. They wanted to see how this most noteworthy project has helped the school,
Assistant Headteacher Miss Elizabeth Hart said;
“At St Mary’s, we support and nurture children in their early years to use language to imagine and recreate roles and experiences in play situations.”
“We also nurture them to be able to use talk to clarify their thinking and ideas. At St Mary’s recognise the benefits of outdoor learning for young children in providing ‘real’ situations which encourage their holistic development.”
“We love that Tesco has helped us to develop our provision in our Early Years Outdoor Learning Environment.”
St Mary’s School Grateful To Tesco
“The money from Bags of Help has been put towards an outdoor covered reading area. It provides cosy places to chat and engage in stories and books.”
“This allows the children to become more confident and articulate as listeners, speakers and readers.”
“We also love our outdoor mud kitchen area. It gives children a place which they can relate to home learning and enjoy talking while learning through interesting and stimulating play opportunities.”
“From us all at St Mary’s Primary School in Beverley, we would like to say a huge thank you to Tesco and their customers. Every Little Helps.”
Tesco have funded a number of projects in Beverley as a result of the scheme. They are always looking for even more local community-based projects to back.
