A series of free lunchtime events will be held at a Beverley pub to encourage older people to get back into the habit of socialising.
The Highfield, in Highfield Road, will host five gatherings between April and July, with entertainment including a singer, bingo and Play Your Cards Right.
Everyone is welcome to attend the events, which are being organised by Home Instead Beverley & Hull.
Entry and entertainment are free and guests will be welcome to buy food at discounted rates.
The gatherings take place on:
- April 14 – 12pm to 2pm
- May 12 – 12pm to 2pm
- June 9 – 12pm to 2pm
- July 14 – 12pm to 2pm
Jennie Falconer, Care Manager at Home Instead Beverley & Hull, said:
“With lockdowns and other restrictions, the past couple of years have been really tough for everyone, particularly older people.
“Older people can often be at risk of becoming lonely and that was clearly even more apparent with social restrictions in place.
“We’re hoping these events will give people a chance to get out and meet people again and to get back into the habit of socialising.
“The Highfield has been kind enough to agree to host the gatherings. They are free to attend and there’ll be some entertainment and games and the pub will be serving food at discounted rates.
“We hope people will come along, bring their friends and make some new ones.”
