An exciting programme of events has been arranged to accompany the new exhibition, ‘Brick City’, opening at Beverley Art Gallery in the Treasure House. The events are being led by Brickbox, specialists in LEGO brick model making.

The ‘Brick City’ Exhibition, created by Warren Elsmore, will be on display until Saturday, 10 September, with free admission, and no need to book in advance.

The exhibition is a celebration of iconic buildings from cities around the world, carefully recreated in LEGO® bricks. Visitors can take their ultimate world tour and discover highlights of cities across five continents, taking in lively celebrations in Rio through to New York, Copenhagen, Romantic Venice, Japan and extravagant Las Vegas.

Accompanying activities will include:

Treasure House Minifig-a-gram Trail : Available from Saturday, 16 July to Saturday, 10 September

Visitors who like a bit of problem-solving with their LEGO Minifigures will love the free Minifig-a-gram challenge that’s on throughout the summer holidays for children and families at the Treasure House. It will be a chance to hunt round the Treasure House Museum for LEGO Minifigures hiding in the display cases. Each Minifigure holds a letter. Some of the letters will also be nestled in the fascinating and cleverly made LEGO Brick models of historic Beverley landmarks that will be on display. Visitors simply collect all the letters to make the two winning words and could bag themselves a fabulous LEGO City set as a prize!

The Trail will be available during normal Treasure House opening times.

The Sessions will be a chance for participants to build a ‘landmark’ with their family or social group, using the LEGO Bricks provided.  Mini tours of the ‘Brick City’ exhibition at Beverley Art Gallery will run on the hour, every hour of each session.

Sarah Hammond, education officer at the Treasure House, said:

“The tours will look at how the models are constructed and include some top tips for your own build! There’ll be expert advice on hand to help while you build your masterpiece, too. Don’t forget to take a picture of your amazing creation and share it on social media before your model gets made into something new”.

The sessions will be free, and there is no need to book. Each family or social group will have a table to use, up to a maximum number of tables. As tables are vacated, new participants can take part, after the table and LEGO Bricks have been sanitised.
