Emma Hardy MP and Menopaus’ull are putting on ‘Menopause Hull 2022’ as part of Emma Hardy’s Big Conversation.
The event will be held on Saturday 22nd October from 11am to 3pm on the ground floor of Princes Quay.
Its goal is to show women experiencing menopause are not alone and that there are services that can offer physical, mental, and emotional support along with expert speakers, health and wellbeing stalls, exercise demonstrations, and 1-2-1 support.
While going through menopause or perimenopause, many women feel lost and have difficulty adjusting to life.
It is estimated that 45% of women do not seek medical attention for their symptoms, 1 in 4 women consider leaving their jobs due to their symptoms, and 63% say their symptoms have negatively affected their careers.
It is common for women to feel alone during menopause, but thankfully there are great projects such as Menopaus’ull Support Network that help them talk and find ways to cope.
Through educational workshops, peer support, exercise classes, and much more, Menopaus’ull supports women before, during, and after menopause.
Emma Hardy MP said:
“One-third of the UK’s female population is either perimenopausal or menopausal and yet menopause is not talked about enough.”
“The symptoms of menopause can drastically affect a person’s day-to-day life, and it is important that women who experience this know where to find support.”
“I am delighted to team up with Menopaus’ull to put on this event and I hope it shows the women of Hull and East Yorkshire ways of managing symptoms and accessing support.”
“I also hope this starts an open conversation as menopause is not a topic, we need to shy away from, but one that we should be discussing at all levels to ensure women are better supported.”
“I am keen that the disparity in gender health accessibility is addressed on a national level and comprehensive support is offered for women experiencing all stages of menopause.”
“Women should not have to ‘just get on with it’ and I will continue to champion women’s health in parliament.”
Sarah & Lucy from Menopaus’ull said:
“We are excited to be part of this citywide event and showcase local health & well-being support services which can help towards improving menopause symptoms.”
“Over the last 12 months, the Menopaus’ull team have spoken with many women who struggle during this time. Bringing women together to share their experiences and signposting the right support for them, can make all the difference.”
“Menopaus’ull Support Network has started the conversation and highlighted the importance that support in this area, is very much needed.”
We hope to see this event continue and develop into future years and continue to keep the menopause conversation going.”
