A partnership between rural internet champions Quickline Communications and telecoms infrastructure provider CellnexUK has enabled 53,000 homes and businesses to access lightning-fast broadband in its first year.
Quickline and Cellnex UK joined forces last year in order to install lightning-fast broadband equipment in isolated parts of the north of England, including remote communities in the North Yorkshire moors, using Cellnex UK’s towers and infrastructure.
During Get Online Week in the UK, the milestone is also being celebrated – a campaign by the Good Things Foundation aimed at reducing digital exclusion and encouraging people to develop their digital skills.
Almost one in ten households in the UK do not have access to the internet, which makes partnerships like Quickline and Cellnex crucial to bridging the digital divide.
Quckline’s Director of Fixed Wireless Operations, Mark Seward, said:
“We have now commissioned 50 of Cellnex UK’s sites where we will install our technology and are actively looking to identify further sites in the future.”
“At this point, we can connect over 53,000 more properties and tens of thousands more homes and businesses will have lightning-fast capability over the next few years.”
In addition to serving the Emergency Services, Wind Farms, RADAR and utility providers, Cellnex UK is also the UK’s largest independent infrastructure provider.
Cellnex UK’s Commercial Director, Paul Stonadge, said:

According to Quickline, a company at the forefront of the 5G rollout, working together when possible is key to mitigating climate change and accelerating rural coverage.
