Following a successful nomination process and Crowdfunder bid, the Hull and East Riding Green Party has formally announced its candidates who will be standing in July’s General Election.

The candidates are:

Beverley and Holderness – Jonathan Stephenson
Bridlington and the Wolds – Gill Leek
Goole and Pocklington – Angela Stone
Hull East – Julia Brown
Hull North and Cottingham – Kevin Paulson
Hull West and Haltemprice – Kerry Harrison

Following the announcement, Deputy Coordinator of the Hull and East Riding Green Party Julia Brown, said:

“We are absolutely delighted that we have achieved a full slate of Green Party candidates across the six parliamentary seats in Hull and the East Riding and, especially, that four of them are women. It’s so important to send the message that politics is not just about public school educated middle aged men!

“The Crowdfunder we set up achieved 50% of its target in less than a week which means we can pay for the deposits for the six candidates and we are now well on the way to raising enough funds for a leaflet to be posted to every household in Hull and the East Riding. That would be the first time the Green Party locally has been able to achieve that.”
