Craig Ford provided the heroics for Walkington Cricket Club as they hammered Nafferton at Walkington Rec.
The home team got off to a flying start, but on a pitch that offered unpredictable bounce they suffered a mid-innings collapse and at one stage it appeared they would be bowled out for less than 170.
But cometh the hour cometh the man, and Ford drove his side onwards. After seeing Rob Scattergood bowled with a beauty first ball, Ford took the responsibility on his shoulders and smacked a superb 79 to take his side to an unassailable total of 267, their second highest ever.
Nafferton were demoralised and they could only manage 123 in reply. Ford completed a great day for himself, picking up three wickets as Walkington cruised to a 144-run victory.
