James Pearson and Andy Johnson of Beverley Athletic Club love to compete and take every opportunity to enter local and regional races.
Last weekend they travelled to Pudsey to run the annual Pudsey 10k, organised by Pudsey Pacers.
Advertised as a scenic, undulating course, the race is rated by runners as one of the most challenging 10ks in the country.
Following country lanes and tracks through woods in the first three miles, the second half of the course includes lots of long uphill drags and culminates in a tough uphill finish through parkland. The hot weather on Sunday added to the challenge.
Pearson finished in sixth place in 38.55 while Johnson was twentieth in 42.36. They have both run faster 10ks but this is definitely not a course for a PB and both were pleased with their times.
There were 374 finishers and the race was won by Carl Thackery of Hallamshire Harriers in 36.33.
