Battle of Britain Memorial Service & Unveiling Ceremony

All those attending The Battle of Britain Memorial Service at St Mary’s Church on Sunday 19th September are asked to be seated by 09:45 hrs for a prompt 10:00 hrs start.

Cllr David Elvidge said;

“The service will last approximately one hour. Although there is no guarantee on these timings, I expect us to be heading to the Hengate Garden at about 11:00 hrs.”

“The unveiling ceremony for the memorial will not be a long one and all that I ask is that at the narrow point of the garden on the back wall where the memorial is to be unveiled, please can those attending allow the relatives of those on the memorial a space near the front.”

“It is quite poignant to note that next Tuesday the 21st, will be the first anniversary of the loss of former Longcroft pupil Sergeant Michael Lockett MC, who was killed by an explosion in  Gereshk district of Helmand province in Afghanistan.”
