Beverley Beat Leven as Nelson Scores Twice

Beverley Town Beavers travelled to local rivals Leven looking to return to winning ways after two draws and a defeat since the New Year.

Beverley’s starting XI had an average age of 20 and the youthful exuberance gave Beverley the start they wanted. Town had plenty of the ball and created a number of chances as 16 year old Will Proud surged forward from full back to hit the outside of the post.

Beverley Town went in front when a through ball was well finished by Andy Nelson. Nelson doubled his tally and the lead with a powerful strike after half an hour. Leven came back into the game towards the end of the first half but were unable to trouble Walker in goal and Town led 2-0 at half time.

Beverley had a number of good chances as another 16 year old Jamie Cording caused trouble and some fine saves from the on form Leven keeper. Against the run of play Leven got a goal back with 15 minutes remaining to set up a tense finish but a fantastic run from Svenson led to a penalty which was calmly converted by Adam Gibson.

Svenson deserves a special note as he performed well in the three positions he was asked to play despite a fantastically camp attempt at heading the ball. The Beavers completed a league double over Leven with both games resulting in the same 3-1 score line
