Beverley Town twice came from behind to beat Hornsea Town 4-2 at the Norwood Recreation Ground thanks to a second-half James Syme double.
It was a tough-tackling affair against a battling Hornsea side that referee Chris Ward had trouble controlling, but Town’s class shone through to keep them seventh in the Humber Premier League.
Hornsea opened the scoring, but just minutes later birthday boy and skipper Jonny Ricardo got on the end of a Michael O’Connell free-kick to blast home the equaliser
Town went behind again when they gifted Hornsea a second following a goalkeeping error, but their never-say-die attitude shone through and with almost the last kick of the first half O’Connell struck to set up a mouth-watering second period.
Beverley made changes at half-time that saw John Kershaw move from central midfield to goalkeeper as they reshuffled in an attempt to stop the goals going in.
The change paid off as Syme struck his first right after the restart, before adding a second to seal victory.
Next weekend Beverley Town host Pocklington Town who won away at St Andrews this weekend.
Final Score: Beverley Town 4 Hornsea Town 2
