Tickton Girls Poor Start Proves Costly

AFC Tickton Under 14 girls came into this fixture in a buoyant mood having won both their last fixtures, keeping a clean sheet in each. But the mood was swiftly dampened by some terrific opening moves by Hessle Town which saw them go 2- 0 up in the opening 8 minutes.

The AFC Tickton team started to come into the game but they were left in no doubt that they would have an uphill struggle to get anything from this game when the home team added a third before half time.

AFC Tickton started the second half in much better form and pressed their opponents into their own half from the whistle. The opening pressure resulted in a penalty being awarded to Tickton but Rachel Wilson was denied an opening goal for the visitors when the Hessle keeper saved the spot kick.

AFC Tickton continued to press forward which left openings at the back and despite the best efforts of Eleanor Gilbert, Rachael Hill, Laura McCoid and Lottie Tuisawau, Hessle were able to claim two more goals.

AFC Tickton continued to press forward and their patience and skill was rewarded when a good interchange of passes between Lily Brunton and Natalie Cording left the ball with Izzie Clark who fired a deft chip over the keeper’s head from 18 yards to at least put Tickton on the score sheet.
