Flute & Harp Concert at Toll Gavel

Two of the country’s most outstanding committed musicians of their generation, Lucy Wakeford playing harp and Kathryn Thomas playing flute, will be appearing at Toll Gavel United Church, Beverley on Thursday, 14th April 2011 at 7.30pm.

Appointed principal of the Philharmonia Orchestra in 2002, Lucy Wakeford is principal harp of the Britten Sinfonia and harpist of the Nash Ensemble, and one of the most outstanding harpists of her generation. She has performed at major venues and festivals throughout Europe and in Britain.

Lucy has appeared at the City of London and Cheltenham international festivals.  As a concerto soloist Lucy has appeared with many renowned orchestras and ensembles and also made recordings.

Kathryn Thomas is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and was subsequently awarded an Associateship of the Royal Academy of Music for distinction in the music profession.

She regularly performs as a recitalist and chamber musician and has given many world and British premiers. She has also worked with orchestras including as guest principal with the London Sinfonietta.

The concert programme will include Bach: Sonata in E flat major for harp and flute; Bizet: Interlude from Carmen; Ravel: Piece en Forme de Habanera; Bax: Sonata; McDowall: 11; Granados: Spanish Dance No 3 and No 5; Saint-Saens: Romance Op 37; Jolivet: Alla Rustica; Francaix: Cinq Piccoli Duetti.
