Beverley Town Continue To Improve

Beverley Town teams have settled into the new Driffield League season with improved performances over the last two weeks.

Beverley Mixed played Long Riston A on home turf this week and took victory by 8 sets to 1 with Jackie Langley and Phil Harrison taking two sets on the tie break. This result follows a 6-3 away win at Driffield Rec B the previous week.

Beverley Mens A have shown improved results after their first match defeat with a close 5-4 win at home over Driffield Rec B last week, followed by a 7-2 home win over Cherry Burton B this week, with pairings of Phil Harrison and Chris Curtis, and Gary Wilson and Paul Miller taking all three sets.

Beverley Mens B travelled to play Malton C last week and took the match 6-3.  This was followed by by a 6-3 defeat at Driffield Rec this week.  As Mens A and B both play in the same division the season promises to be intriguing as both teams  match each other on league points so far.

The young Mens C side, although still without a win, have shown improved performances from all players with a narrow 5-4 home defeat against Leven B last week, new pairing of Joe Glendinning and John  Holmes taking all three of their sets.  This was followed by a 6-3 defeat at home to Driffield Rec D, Joe and John taking two sets, with Alex Chrystal and Jack Harrison taking the third set.

Rain stopped play for the first junior club night on Friday so, weather permitting, junior sessions will start at Norwood Park on 20th May 6.30-8.30. Beginners are welcome  – For more information contact Ros Parvin 07886 586352.
