Beverley Humbled by Humbleton in the Newland League

Beverley Town Cricket Club’s Newland Evening League side crashed to a seven-wicket defeat to Humbleton at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

Missing several key batsmen, Beverley struggled against an accurate Humbleton attack, only making 73 as they batted first. James Emery and Kieran O’Brien top scored with 19 apiece.

Beverley captain Alan Acklam used the two spinner approach to opening the bowling and Beverley were rewarded when Anthony Spence picked up a wicket in his first over.

But despite his and young Jamie Roe’s efforts with the new ball, Humbleton cruised home to 74-3. Spence finished with 2-11 off his four overs.
