The Big Butterfly Count

From July 31st Britain starts its Butterfly count, launched by David Attenborough.

It’s thought that the Butterfly population is in decline so they are looking for people to record the types of Butterflies they can see in their gardens during a 15 minute spell.

Forms can be down loaded from   bigbutterflycount.org   to help you record your sightings.

As a keen wildlife photographer I took this opportunity to have a closer look at the wildlife that lives in and around our area.

I started my trek at the Crown & Anchor on the river Hull and followed the river path with camera in hand.

You’ll be surprised how much wildlife there is waiting to be discovered when you take a closer look.

  1. Great pics! When I had my garden, I counted about six easy: Red Admirals, Painted Ladies, Commas, Peacock, Small Tortoishell and a white one (not sure which). Easy to spot. Bees are even more interesting – used to be able to spot three or four different ones on a lavendar plant and God knows how many different ones over a year. As for beetles, hoverflies, wasps, flies and spiders, the list is endless. Get looking you’ll be surprised at what you find
