Phillip Matthews:We Can Beat Colts

Player manager of the Eager Beaver Phillip Matthews is confident his side can get a result in this evenings local derby against the Humber Colts.

Matthews who took charge of the Eager Beaver this season said;

“Anything is possible in a game like this, the word friendly goes right out of the window, it is all about bragging rights.”

The Humber Colts who play two divisions high than the Eager Beaver and go into the game as favourites though Matthews believes this will be good test and is optimistic about getting something from the game.

Matthews added;

“We have a very versatile squad and when we are on form we it takes a lot to beat us.”

Craig Fawcett assistant manager of the Humber Colts is playing down the hype around the game saying;

“By the end of tonight there will only be one team bragging and that will be us.”

“We do our talking on the pitch; unlike the Eager Beaver we are unbeaten in our pre season.”

Colts winger Tom Moore looks set to start as the Colts go into the game with a number of players missing.

Moore who was approached repeatedly over the summer by Matthews declined the move and pledged his future the Humber Colts.

The volatile winger spent much of the backend of season sidelined after receiving a lengthy ban for his part in the brawl that took place between the Colts and Inter Beaver.

Moore has stressed he has learnt from that experience and has promise the Shanghai faithful that his football will be the only talking point this season.
