East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s youth support service has joined forced with Beverley Town Council to offer young people the chance to cook and taste healthy meals at Beverley Food Festival on Sunday 2 October.

The youth support service has been supported by NHS East Riding of Yorkshire public health team to bring in specialist chefs and activity instructors from Fit to Eat.

The event will take place at the mobile Connexions unit, which will be outside Burton’s in Saturday Market between 9.30am and 4.30pm and the chefs will demonstrate quick, tasty and healthy food, give the young people a chance to cook for themselves as well as handing out recipe cards so meals can be re-created at home.

Kevin Allen, youth support service manager, said: “We are delighted to be working with Beverley Town Council at this prestigious event.

“The weekend offers young people the opportunity to gain more knowledge on a range of food related topics and we encourage young people to get involved in the activities on offer.”

“We now have more things to appeal to the younger generation. Along with the street dance and cookery, we will have a live youth band and a circus skills specialist. There will also be opportunities for young people to meet and talk to top chefs and radio presenters.”
