The Beverley Barge Preservation Society today was presented with a new boat named ‘Mermaid’. Mayor of Beverley Peter Astell was there too supporting one of his named charities of the year.
The Mermaid started out as a life boat before being converted to a support vessel. The Beverley Barge Preservation Society plan to use the boat for pleasure trips for small groups of people.
They also will be looking to use it to train people with a view to getting more young people involved.
