East Riding Youth Dance is recruiting at a venue near you for the spring term.
Co-ordinated by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the project includes weekly sessions with professional artists working towards performances each term. East Riding Youth Dance also gives young people the opportunity to learn from the country’s leading professional dance companies in workshops and live performances.
The youth dance groups are based in five areas of the East Riding with sessions for 11 to 13-year-olds and 14 to 18-year-olds. At the end of every term, the 10 groups plus the exclusive county company come together to perform at the biggest Youth Dance Platform in the area.
Weekly sessions will be taking place at:
Minster Primary School, Beverley Tuesdays
The Spa, Bridlington Tuesdays
Hornsea Leisure Centre Fridays
Junction, Goole Fridays
Woldgate College, Pocklington Thursdays
All groups start week commencing 16 January 2012
The cost is £35 per term.
All young people who take part in the project will also be given the opportunity to see Random Dance Company perform FAR at The Spa, Bridlington on Monday, 30 January 2011 at a reduced rate.
Staged in a mesmerising environment of shadow and light, FAR binds cutting edge design with choreography made from a radical cognitive research process.
For the making of FAR, Wayne McGregor has continued to interact with researchers from the field of cognitive science whose enquiries into choreographic and physical thinking have helped to inform and augment his work with the dancers.
