Choirs To Sing Their Heart Out For Health At Minster

On Saturday 12th May 2012, Beverley Minster will be co-organising and hosting a charity event to raise funds for Beverley Minster and Castle Hill Breast Care Unit.

The local, and nationally highly-acclaimed Hot Gospel choir, will be joined by its sister community choir, All For One Choir, will be singing a lively repertoire of Gospel and contemporary music to raise much needed funds for these two deserving causes.

Hot Gospel Choir, the brainchild of Musical Director Helen Garnett, was established 8 years ago to share the Love and Gospel of Jesus through song and music. The choir has sung at Voice in a Million project and BAAF at the 02 Arena, London, BBC Radio Humberside Candle Light Appeal, Hull Freedom Festival, TV Look North, Children in Need 2011 at Hull Truck Theatre , and at many local churches and weddings. The choir have also appeared on national TV when they were asked to be filmed singing their version of Handel Messiah’s Hallelujah Chorus.

The choir’s debut CD received fantastic reviews by Cross Rhythms, who provide Ministry networking for the UK Christian music and media streaming Contemporary Christian Music online, providing articles about the UK music scene, and a directory providing information about UK ministry. All For One Choirs (A.F.O. C) ,Hot Gospel’s sister choir also under the musical direction of Helen Garnett, are based in Beverley, Hull and Bridlington and are 3 all-inclusive community choirs comprising enthusiastic, local people who enjoy the experience of singing for fun, and also recognising the benefits of singing for health and wellbeing.

A.F.O.C, are official charity supporters of Heart Research UK, who fund pioneering research into the prevention of Heart Disease and are also happy to be supporting the chosen charities for this wonderful concert. AFOC, although only formed April 2011, have achieved success in performing at some high profile events such as Beverley and Hull Christmas Lights switch on, and thrilled fans at The KC Stadium when they performed to an audience of 17,800 people at the Hull City v Millwall game last year. They have also recorded their debut CD this year.

Naomi Merriweather a member of Beverley Minster Church and Hot Gospel, having successfully been treated for Breast Cancer by Castle Hill Breast Care Unit herself, wanted to organise an event which gave something back to the church, community and hospital who had helped her. When Naomi approached Helen with her idea, Helen was thrilled to be asked to support this fantastic project, which goes hand in hand with her ethos of community health and wellbeing and supporting good causes.

According to Naomi and Helen, the event promises to be a lively show. A vibrant celebration of sound, and vision, guaranteed to lift the hearts, voices and spirits of all who attend. As well as pieces for the audience to listen to, there will also be opportunities for audience participation for all those who may want to take the experience a little further.
