East Riding Choir To Perform At Beverley Minster

The East Riding County Choir’s next concert will be in Beverley Minster on Saturday, 5th May 2012 at 7.30 pm. The Choir is singing two contrasting works – Lux Aeterna by Lauridsen and A German Requiem by Brahms (performed in English).

Alan Spedding is conducting and The East Riding Sinfonia, led by Patricia Mitchell, will accompany. Soloists are Bethany Seymour (soprano) and John Anthony Cunningham (baritone).

Lauridsen, who many may not be familiar with, is a contemporary American composer and Lux Aeterna was first performed in 1997. Much of the music is based on Gregorian chant and sounds absolutely beautiful. Brahms’ Requiem was written about 132 years earlier. It too sounds lovely. The combination of the magnificent architecture of Beverley Minster while listening to such beautiful music is an opportunity not to be missed.

Tickets from Beverley Tourist Information Centre (tel: 01482 391672) or at the door from 6.45 pm. Prices £8, £12 and £15. Accompanied children 16 and under free.
