The Ladies Fashion Shop That ‘Popped Up’

Sophie Appleton has recently introduced the ‘pop-up shop’ phenomena to Beverley.

The retailing concept, which orginated in Japan, has been sweeping the globe with the first commercial pop up shop being introduced in London 2010. The trend involves “popping-up” one day, then disappearing anywhere from one day to several weeks later.

Pop-up shops, while small and temporary, can build up interest by consumer exposure, they are often used by marketers for seasonal items or more recently have been used due to the economic climate to combat high rent and rates, giving retailers and opportunity to try out their concept and test the market demand before tying in to long term rental agreements.

Raspberry Beret was initially on Beverley Saturday Market and noticed a demand for women’s fashion but felt the limitations of selling on the market so Sophie decided to look for a premises enabling customers to try on garments in a comfortable, warm environment.

Sophie has been given this unique opportunity to showcase her wares at a vacant property at 2 Sow Hill Road near the Bus Station in Beverley (next to Vanilla cafe).

The shop opened within 7 days of receiving the keys, so don’t be surprised to see a shop that has quite literally popped up!

Please do come to have a look at the shop and support Raspberry Beret, even if it is just to have a nosey at what you can do with an empty retail space. Raspberry Beret can also be found online at www.raspberry-beret.co.uk and provides an alternative to high street retailers, matching the fast fashion brands on price and quality.
