Beverley Builder Clinches Top Construction Award

Pride in the Job Award Beverley

Despite the toughest housing market conditions in living memory, Beverley builder Risby Homes has some good news to report.

For the second year running Richard Bettison, Risby’s site manager at their Keldgate Bar development in Beverley has won an NHBC Pride in the Job Award.  However, this year he has gone two stages further to become the regional winner representing the north east of England in the small builder category at the national finals to be held in London in January.  Eight regions of the UK are represented.

The Pride in the Job Awards are held annually and were introduced by the NHBC 29 years ago to improve standards within the industry and remain the only award to focus on site management.  Nationally, 13,000 site managers are assessed and judging takes place on an on-going basis for consistency against 38 aspects of site management including technical expertise, quality control and health and safety.

Mark Barrett, managing director of Risby Homes said “I am delighted for Richard, his team and the company.  It is a tremendous achievement.  We are all looking forward to the national awards but this represents the Oscars of our industry and the competition has been and will be intense”.

With an eye for detail and an interest in design and architecture, Richard began his career as a joiner before being promoted to site manager.  Richard thoroughly enjoys seeing the construction process from start to finish and completing a quality product.  Stepsons Rory and Josh also work in construction as a steel fabricator and scaffolder respectively.

Richard has completed the first two phases of Keldgate Bar and is currently working on the third phase which comprises 10 four bedroomed houses and 7 bungalows and apartments for the elderly on behalf of Beverley Consolidated Charity.
