Military Surprise For Retiring Headmistress

Mrs Jenny Farmer retired on Friday 19 July 2013 after teaching at Leconfield Primary School for 25 years, with her last 21 years being spent as the school’s head teacher.

To mark her farewell and to thank her for her care and diligence in looking after many thousands of Service schoolchildren over the past 25 years, Jenny received a surprise trip in a Sea King helicopter from Leconfield’s Search and Rescue unit, E Flight from No 202 Squadron and a ride in Jackal, one of the Defence School of Transport’s armoured vehicles.

Jenny was picked up from a grassed area close to her school and took part in a short, local area training sortie which will gave her a unique perspective and chance to see the areas where her many Service schoolchildren and their parents have lived and worked.

After landing was presented with a signed, framed print of the Sea King by the members of E Flight as a memento of her long and close association with Service personnel from DST Leconfield and the RAF Search and Rescue Force.
Jenny was then given a tour of DST’s driver training area in a Jackal vehicle.
