Defending Humber Premier League Champions Beverley Town Football Club got their season off to a perfect start as they beat Hornsea Town 3 – 2 as the new Humber Premier League season got underway.
Goals from Danny Norton and a Richard Gibson free were all the defending champions needed to secure all three points on the opening day of the season.
Manager David Ricardo told HU17.net after the game;
“I am pleased with a very professional display which was topped with a clean sheet. We had a couple of clear targets’ today, to win and not to concede a goal, we have done both.”
“Now we need to remain focused and make sure we deliver the same level of performance for Tuesday’s home game against a strong Sculcoates side.”
Sculcoates Amateurs also got their season off to a flyer as they beat Crown FC, Town will be confident they can get a result on Tuesday night ahead of next Saturday’s game away to Scarborough Athletic.
