The Beverley Food Festival and The Beverley Real Ale Festival have joined forces in what promises to be one of the region’s premier food and drink events!
With the aim of creating a weekend long real ale and food extravaganza, the Beverley Food Festival and Beverley Real Ale Festival will be taking place over the weekend of the 4th, 5th and 6th of October.
On the 4th, 5th and 6th the second Beverley Real Ale festival will take place, and this year the Memorial Hall (which is about to complete its final stage of refurbishment becoming one of the region’s premier event venues) will play host to Festival.
With tickets already selling fast, the Festival promises to be another sell-out. This year the Festival is extended by one day to coincide with the Food Festival – giving food lovers the opportunity to try a few tipples along with the fantastic food on offer during the Food Festival.
The Real Ale Festival gets under way on Friday 4th October with an exclusive all-ticket event. Guests have the opportunity to sample world-class ales from local producers, including Great Newsome Brewery, Wold Top and Brass Castle, alongside top entertainment from some of the region’s finest acts.
The Festival’s atmosphere continues throughout Saturday the 5th October with a more family atmosphere during the afternoon, more live music and the chance to sample great cask ales and cider. Music will have more of a focus for this year’s Festival. Jody Mckenna and the Hillbilly Troupe will be playing; these are firm favourites from the Leven and Hornsea festivals. Beverley brass band, and a band from York called Pelico, will also be playing, amongst others.
Continuing the town’s festival experience, food lovers will be able to enjoy a family day of food, festivities and fun on Sunday 6th October at the Beverley Food Festival, which is to be held in the Saturday Market place. Now in its eighth year, the Beverley Food Festival continues to go from strength to strength, with over 100 stalls offering locally produced food and drinks.
Food Festival organiser and Town Clerk Helen Watson said:
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Beverley Real Ale Festival, to bring residents and visitors to the town a real festival weekend experience. There will be lots to see and do, and the emphasis is very much on supporting local growers and producers who provide such high quality food and drink in our region.”
Helen continued:
“One of the highlights of the Beverley Food Festival is the Food Theatre Marquee, where eight local, highly-acclaimed chefs will be doing cooking demonstrations and showcasing their talents. In addition, broadcasters from BBC Radio Humberside will be offering their support; being comperes; and also taking part in the fun-filled ‘ready steady cook’ competition.”
The Real Ale Festival is being sponsored by Beerhouse Self Drive (main Sponsor) Harper Creative Ltd, The New Inn Leven, Great Newsome Brewery and supported by Beverley Town Council and the Beverley Memorial Hall.
There is more sponsorship available for companies to get involved. The one bar sponsorship left is to be auctioned on Ebay. This sponsorship is proofing very popular because the companies will be able to name the bar, for example, The KC Bar. Just search Beverley Ale Festival on Ebay. It will run for 10 days from 20th August.
Real Ale Festival organiser James Harper said: “we simply can’t wait for this year’s Festival! Last year was great and demonstrated how popular real ale is in the town and this year we have more choice, more beer, more entertainment and open for longer, so the Festival should be even better!
This year we are excited to be holding the event at the Beverley Memorial Hall which offers the Festival such a great sustainable base and we are able to now open on the Sunday so we can link in with the Food Festival.
Holding the Real Ale Festival alongside the Food Festival is a beer and food match made in heaven! This is going to be a big deal for the town and by the way tickets are selling so fast, we know how popular this event is going to be!
Beverley Real Ale Festival organisers are really pleased that Beerhouse Self Drive has announced that it will be continuing with its support of the Festival this year so much so that they have increased their commitment to become the main sponsor!
The working relationship all came about after a conversation between Phil Moses (Beerhouse Self Drive) & James Harper in which Phil mentioned that customers are always joking that “are you a pub” and “can we fill the vehicle up with beer” or “do we get a free crate of beer with the hire”!
This led to Beerhouse Self Drive launching a jovial “real ale” radio advert on local radio stations KCFM & Yorkshire Coast radio.
The advert was so well received, causing people to recite it! But it also won KCFM an award for the production!
With this in mind there seemed a natural synergy to help support this local event, plus launching the event in conjunction with the food festival just confirms why Beverley & the East Riding was recently voted one the best 10 places to live in the country!
Phil Moses said,
“We are pleased to be associated with an event that helps support local venues, in this case the Memorial Hall which is always in need of local businesses and residents to support them and to help keep them open to the community. For Beerhouse Self Drive it is always nice to be associated with such a popular and successful event.”
