A Night at the Musicals organised by former students of Longcroft School turned out to be a massive success raising over £800 for charity.
Twelve ex-students, Kimi Smith, Rebecca McNamara, Joe Bird, David Robinson, Declan Greaves, Kim Raw, Alex Grainger, Danielle Wilkinson, Kallam Doherty, Connor Ferguson, Katherine Coates and Nathan Connell put on an event that featured a string of hits from top musicals while raising money for Candlelighters, a Yorkshire charity supports children with cancer.
Kimi Smith who was one of the key organisers explained why they chose the charity, she told HU17.net;
“I’ve seen the work they do and how much they help the children and their families, and I think that do such an amazing work and are a much-needed comfort.”
Through ticket sales, drink sales, a prize draw and a quiz they managed to smash their target of £500 raising a total of £835.79 for the charity!
Kimi added
“We had 75 people at the event. The feedback has been really good, and some people have asked when we will be doing the next event.”
“All of us would like to thank the local businesses that were kind enough to make such generous donations.”
The Mayor of Beverley Martin Cox was also at the event, he commented;
“The standard of music has been very good. I have thoroughly enjoyed the show.”
