Darley’s Magic Dragons With The Derby Thanks To Boynton Strike

Beverley Whitestar Dragons claimed the bragging rights winning the derby thanks to a single goal from Oliver Boynton.

Beverley Whitestar Dragons went head to head with their follow club mates Beverley Whitestar Vipers in the Hull Boys Sunday League.

Healthy competition on the pitch between the players and off the pitch between the respective coaches made for tense local derby at a windswept Longcroft School.

Ahead of the game both coaches, Mike Kilgannon and Craig Darley tried their best to steal a physiological advantage, but it was Darley and his magic Dragons that were celebrating after Boynton’s shot squirmed into the goal.

Speaking after the game, the winning manager Darley said;

“It was a good result for us today. The conditions were a game leveller but we got the all-important goal.”

“As a side we dominated the match from start to finish, Freddie Banister, Ben Darley, Zac Willey and Jacob Hunter all put in a great shift.”

“We played a nice tidy game building up from the back. Hunter was solid in the middle of the park while Willy showed his true caliber as a captain organising the side.”

Viper’s boss Kilgannon was left feeling disappointed with the defeat, he said;

“This was a very close game; either side could have won the match. Overall, I think this was a great advert for the football in Beverley and for the game.”

This was the first-time Darley has managed to get one over on his rival. The sides that were one team until they were split to handle the numbers of new players joining have only played each other in friendly games.

Darley added;

“This is the perfect springboard for us going into next week’s game against Costello. They are one of the strongest teams, but we are confident we can give them a game.”

Final Score: Beverley Whitestar Dragons 1 Beverley Whitestar Vipers 0
