Beverley Town have taken a giant step to retaining their Humber Premier Title after they beat Reckitts AFC at Hull University.
Town boss Dave Ricardo ahead of the game had said his side would have one hand on the championship trophy if they beat Reckitts the current league leaders.
A single goal was enough for Beverley Town to secure all three points and ensure they beat their rivals closing the gap at the top to just ten points.
Beverley’s goal came in the first half courtesy of the right boot of Luke Thompson whose 30 yard thunder bolt of a shot crashed in off the bar.
Skipper Michael O’Connell felt Town were in control of the game and what Reckitts did chuck at them was handled well by their defence, he said;
“ I Thought we were comfortable and Reckitts couldn’t live with us when we got the ball down. Dane Mortimer and Johnny Ricardo were outstanding dealing with the long balls up to with ease.”
Town return to action on Tuesday night when they play bottom club Westella & Willerby.
