Mill Lane Wizards rounded off their Myton League 1 campaign with a resounding victory over the league champions FC Sutton.

The Wizards started on the front foot and soon had Sutton under pressure with some great passing football. After only 2 minutes, Matty Tomlinson broke down the right, and his inside pass found Jacko Towse who turned in the box and struck his shot in the bottom corner to make the score 1-0.

The solid back three of Zac Wise, Danny Wilson and Man of the Match Adam Prince gave little away as the Sutton forwards struggled to make any headway.

However, the pressure on the Sutton goal was relentless as the midfield of Tomlinson, Harry Sadler and George Addison dominated possession. It was therefore, no surprise when the Wizards doubled their advantage with a neat finish from the hard-working Lloyd Bean.

The second half started in the same vein and with only a couple of minutes gone it was 3-0 as a mazy run by Sadler took him into the penalty area where he drilled a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Jack Thurston in the Mill Lane goal pulled off a couple of good saves before another flowing move by the Wizards made it 4:0.

The industrious Ben Gillyon set up Jamie Pettigrew for number 5 and Pettigrew was on hand again with a minute to go to make the final score 6-0

More success was to follow for the Wizards after they won the 5 aside futsal league to progress to the regional finals in Leeds after winning 21 of their 22 matches.

They ended their campaign against Victoria Dock Thunder were two wins would guarantee the league title.

With some outstanding pressing and passing football, they won the first game 2:1 and in the second took an early lead with some fantastic team play. However, the Thunder came back strongly, and after leveling the tie, quickly made it 2:1 with a headed finish.

With the clock ticking down the Wizards had to dig deep and when the ball was laid-back Harry Sadler smashed the ball into the top corner to bring the tie level. The Wizards now sensed they could win the tie and two minutes later.

Jamie Pettigrew made it 3-2 to win the match and the league for the Wizards.
