A talk will take place at the Beverley Treasure House on Thursday, 5 June looking at the contrasting types of two Yorkshire War memorials from the First World War. The talk will be delivered by Dorothy Nott and start at 6.30pm.
At the end of the First World War the Royal Academy offered various ‘suggestions’ as to the design and style of the war memorials which were set up all across Britain. This talk will look at two very different memorials, one in York and one in Sledmere to see how far the guidelines were followed.
Tickets cost £5 each and booking is essential. For more information and to book a spot call (01482) 392699/392706 or come into the Archives and Local studies research room in the Beverley Treasure House.
